Strange Case of the day - 7 items Ed Gein made from Corpses of the Dead
Edward Theodore Gein, popularly known as Ed Gein was a convicted murderer and body snatcher of Plainfield, Wisconsin. He was the inspiration for the villains of several gruesome horror films, including Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs, and Norman Bates in Psycho. After Ed Gein was arrested; authorities conducted a thorough search in his house and discovered a number of horrific items. So here are the top 7 items Ed Gein Made from Corpses of the dead:
Wall Hangings
He was kind of decorative but was undisciplined. In his house, many bizarre artifacts were stacked and jumbled on the floors. These included a wastebasket made of human skin, a collection of noses, and the head of his victim Mary Hogan in a bag. Gein decorated the walls with different types of hand made wall hangings which included several human body parts like fingers and noses.
Belt
When officials went to his home for searching more evidence, the first thing they encountered was a calling bell and the worst part about it - the switch was made from a female nipple. In his early childhood, Gein exhibited feminine behaviors, which subjected him to bullying at times. After his mother’s death, it seemed that he was increasingly desperate to become a woman himself and out of that he made a belt; that was completely made of nipples, and it just satisfied his lust and increased his collection of feminine attire.
Bowls
Ed Gein was a body snatcher, he used to steal dead body parts from nearby cemeteries and he specifically used to steal skulls for making makeshift soup bowls and ashtrays. He also embedded the heads of forks and spoons in bones to create his cutlery.
Chairs
Officials who visited Gein’s house told that he used to keep organs in his refrigerator and also may have consumed parts of them after cooking. Some say that he occasionally used to share his dinner with acquaintances; who had no idea that the dinner was made with dead people. Among the gruesome items that authorities discovered in Gein’s house was a set of chairs but the shocking part was that he had upholstered those chairs with the skins of his victims.
Mask
Ed Gein’s whole life history tells that he wanted to be a female and this urge increased more after his mother’s death. He wore women’s body parts as clothing and made sure that his costume included a number of masks, all made from dead women’s faces. The masks looked as real as they were, consisting of their victims’ entire faces, including hair, foreheads, eyebrows, eyes (with eyelashes), noses, ears, lips, chins, and jaws. The only things missing were the eyeballs, which Ed supplied himself when he wore the masks.
Gloves
His wardrobe also included a number of accessories, such as an apron of his victim’s skin. Bizarre even for Gein was that he also owned a pair of wrist-length gloves in which the large, thick stitches follow the contours of the thumbs and fingers similar to those a coroner might use after performing an autopsy; which certainly resonates with the story that as he was lonely, he used to read a lot and probably by reading books he taught himself these skills. But the bizarre part about the gloves was that these gloves were completely made of human skin that he peeled off from his victim’s bodies.
Necklace
During my research; one thing that was popping out sometimes was a necklace that was found in Gein’s house. Though there is no concrete evidence about its existence, but if it is true then this necklace is the most horrific item ever found in any serial killer’s house, because this necklace was not an ordinary one, it was a tongue necklace. He used to cut off the tongues of his victims and then made it into a necklace.
Something Strange, Something Personal
What I am watching?
Colombia Hostage Rescue: Operation Jaque was one of the most ambitious and successful Colombian military operation that resulted in the successful rescue of 15 hostages, including former Colombian presidential candidate Íngrid Betancourt. The hostages had been held by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). This is one of the best hostage rescue documentaries I have ever seen. Here is the YouTube video:
News, that am going through:
1. FBI releases serial killer’s drawings in own blood in push to ID victims
2. Largest web-based interactive paranormal investigation coming to 'The Conjuring' house
3. French serial killer expert admits his career is based on lies — and that he made up his wife
Quote, that I am deeply thinking about:
“Here's the crazy thing: if I was guilty I would be entitled to job training, housing, medical treatment. But I have nothing. I was released with 5 dollars and 37 cents of my own money.” - Nick Yarris, Writer and professional speaker who spent 22 years on death row after being wrongfully convicted of murder.
