Strange Case of the day - Worst Mothers in History
Tomorrow is Mother's day. And to every mother reading this - Happy Mother's Day in advance. Thank you for doing what you do. But, not every mother in history is as good as you or your mother. Some are dangerous & evil, so here are the 5 worst mothers in history:
Mary Ann Cotton

Mary Ann Cotton was an English serial killer, convicted of, and hanged for, the murder of her 21 victims. And surprisingly, her victims were some of her own. She had 4 husbands and 13 children. Out of the 21 victims, 3 were her husbands & 11 were her children. She chiefly used arsenic poisoning, causing gastric pain and a rapid decline of health to kill her victims. After investigation, it was found that she killed all of them to collect on their insurance policies.
Andrea Yates
Andrea Yates was suffering for some time from very severe postpartum depression, postpartum psychosis and schizophrenia. One day, yates was left alone with her 5 children, despite the doctor warning her husband against it. Her mother-in-law was supposed to come over to her house an hour after her husband left her alone, to take over for her, as she still needed time to recoup after a psychiatrist determined that she was suicidal. In that hour that she was alone however, yates managed to kill all 5 of their children.

She started with 3 of her boys, drowning them and then laying them in their beds. She then drowned her daughter in the tub and left her there, when her last little boy came into the bathroom and asked her what was wrong with his sister, she chased after him. She drowned her last son and left him in the tub with his sister. She then called 911 and also her husband & told him to come home immediately.
She confessed to drowning her 5 children but in 2006, a Texas jury in her retrial found that Yates was not guilty by reason of insanity.
Casey Anthony
Casey Anthony made national headlines many times after her daughter Caylee Anthony's death. In 2008, Caylee was reported missing in a 9-1-1 call made by her maternal grandparent Cindy, who said she had not seen Caylee for 31 days and that Casey's car smelled like a dead body had been inside it. Cindy said Casey had given varied explanations as to Caylee's whereabouts before finally telling her that she had not seen Caylee for weeks. Casey lied to detectives, telling them Caylee had been kidnapped by a nanny and that she had been trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities.

Later Caylee's remains were found inside of a plastic trash bag in nearby woods and Casey was charged with first degree murder in which she pleaded not guilty. Surprisingly, just days after her daughter's body was found, she regularly went out for partying. Caseys defense argued that Caylee had drowned and that Casey's father had disposed of the body. After a 6 week-long trial and little to no evidence Casey Anthony was set free and was found not guilty.
Susan Smith
Susan Smith intentionally drove her two children, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alexander into a lake while they were strapped into their car seats. The case gained international attention because of Smith's false claim that an African-American man had kidnapped her sons during a carjacking. She did later, however, confess to strapping the 2 boys into the car and letting it roll into a lake, ultimately leading to their death.

She was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after serving 30 years. Smith will be eligible for parole on November 4, 2024.
Katherine Knight
Katherine Knight is the first Australian woman to be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Katherine was married to David Kellett, who was warned by Katherine's mother that he better not ever cheat on Katherine because she (Katherine) is crazy and would kill him. Katherine was very dominant over David. She was always very violent towards him. Despite the violence, the couple went on to have two children together. Katherine ultimately ended up leaving David. She had 3 other relationships following the end of her marriage as well as 2 more children.

Katherine's final relationship was with John Price, who already had 3 daughters from a previous marriage. Price refused to marry Knight and that upset her very much. One night during one of their fights she stabbed him at least 37 times, in both the front and back of his body. She then skinned him, put his skin on a meat hook and cooked his head and parts of his body with the intention of feeding them to his children.
